We are supporting an established life science tools company as it strengthens its Field Application Scientist leadership team across the US West Coast.

This is a genuine player-coach position. You will manage and develop a regional team of experienced Field Application Scientists (5+) while continuing to work directly with customers on immunoassay applications, assay development, troubleshooting and training.

The role will include:

  • Leading, coaching and developing an experienced regional FAS team
  • Managing performance, development plans and continuing education
  • Training and onboarding new Field Application Scientists
  • Supporting customer assay development, optimisation and troubleshooting
  • Delivering customer training across assays, instruments and analytical software
  • Working closely with regional sales leadership to support customer adoption and growth
  • Providing scientific input during evaluations and strategic customer engagements
  • Sharing market, customer and competitor feedback with internal teams
  • Mentoring other FAS managers and contributing to wider team development

We are looking for someone with:

  • Field Applications or scientific-support experience within life science tools
  • Previous responsibility for managing and developing scientists
  • Strong hands-on knowledge of immunoassays and assay development
  • Experience in protein biochemistry, biomarker analysis or a closely related field
  • Confidence supporting pharmaceutical, biotechnology and research customers
  • An understanding of how FAS teams contribute to capital-equipment and reagent sales
  • The humility and technical credibility to lead experienced scientists

Candidates should be based on the West Coast. A PhD is preferred, although an MSc or BSc with substantial relevant experience may also be considered.
